Outside of a Grand Slam, I don’t think there’s a tournament in the world that has this many top players representing their countries. It’s really remarkable that we have this many No. 1’s. And with so many countries being represented, it’s going to give the fans from Las Vegas who are from those countries a chance to come out and root for their countrymen.
Hog butcher for the world, Tool maker, stacker of wheat, Player with railroads and the nation’s freight handler; Stormy, husky, brawling, City of big shoulders.
I remember the Chillicothe ballplayers grappling the Long Island ball players in a sixteen-inning game ended by darkness. And the shoulders of the Chillicothe players were a red smoke against the sundown and the shoulders of the Rock Island players were a yellow smoke against the sundown. And the umpire’s voice was hoarse calling balls and strikes and outs and the umpire’s throat fought in the dust for a song.
eah, you don’t get a lot of meatheads doing improvised theater to begin with, and that’s always been my thing. I talk about the nerd/meathead dichotomy on my podcast a lot, but there was a time when I was doing UCB full-time and playing men’s league rugby in New York City, and I was like the funniest, artsiest rugby player, and the bro-iest improv comedian. I’ve always managed to sort of be in both sides.
There’s no ego when you’re a ukulele player.
Most of my ukulele heroes were traditional players from Hawaii, like Eddie Kamae and Ohta-san. There may not be uke stars in popular culture, but there are certainly pop stars that play uke – George Harrison, Eddie Vedder, Taylor Swift, Train, and Paul McCartney.
When I look for what I’m going to listen to I go backwards. I’m always going the other way you see. Most people are trying to figure out ‘how do I get in the fast lane going that way?’. I’m going in the other direction. I wanna find the oldest thing to do.
If I can be half the hockey player that Bobby Orr was, I’ll be happy.
The best thing you can say about any coach is his players play hard for him.
I have been amongst the best players in the world for 8 years. None at that level played as many ties as I did.
Our advertising partnership with Allegiant Air is a natural fit for us. Branding encompasses everything from good customer service to strategic advertising positioning and targeting. This in-air branding exercise will allow us to target a specific player demographic, while continuing to expand the presence of our brand throughout the continental United States.
I can understand the frustration felt by the many basketball players who feel that they have been forced to conform with the league’s new dress code, .. Iverson and other NBA players have suggested that they will not abide by the league’s dress code, and Bodog.com will offer to reimburse any fines levied, and match the payment with a donation to each player’s charity of choice.
I remember, the players have often mentioned it as an honour to Shakespeare, that in his writing (whatsoever he penned) he never plotted out a line. My answer hath been, would he had blotted a thousand.
When I played, the owners had the power. The prisoners are running the prison now, not the warden. The warden is strong and he has say so but, the balance of power is definitely with the players.
At age 31, in 1981, I was voted the best player in basketball, and the most valuable player in the league.
The biggest thing when you’re playing live is that you’re sitting across from the player and can get a detailed impression of how they’re acting, and whether they’re expressing strength or weakness. Online, it’s much more about betting patterns and you’re using a much narrower range of cues to what they’re holding and thinking.
I grew up not really listening to guitar players. Especially when I was studying music, I was just interested in piano players and arrangers and composers; I came to playing in a band from the perspective of someone who never expected to play guitar in a band.
I feel so fortunate, so honored, to have played this game that I love for so long, with so many great players, and in front of so many wonderful fans. I fulfilled a childhood dream the first time I stepped on an NFL field, and the league did not let me down one time.
When you look back you talk about legends of the game, he’s certainly up there. Twenty trophies since 1994. He just seems to get better and better. I’ve had the honour of playing alongside him. The four years I’ve played alongside him, he is the best player, one of the first names on the manager’s teamsheet. He is just a complete legend. There are not enough players like Paul Scholes around any more for my liking. ‘Legend’ is over-used but this guy is right up there with the very best.
I swear I have never told a player to attack another player. In fact, I have told my players if they ever hear me saying something like this, they can break a stick over my skull. I ask only that they play aggressively.
Concussion? How the hell can they tell? They’re *football* players, for chrissakes!
A band’s only unique thing is its chemistry, especially if none of you are prodigious players or particularly handsome. The one thing you have is your uniqueness, so we hold on to that.
I’m in touch with Stick players all over the world, so I have a unique perspective on what they need from a website. Stick Enterprises is a small family-run business, but they have a depth of experience and committment that’s pretty rare these days. I try to make sure that all the bases are covered for them, because I think what they do is really valuable to the music world.
I think it’s important as a player every now and again to play something that’s influenced you as an artist just to expose the people to it.
You can be a singer, and you can be a guitar player, but putting them together is another animal.
All the world’s indeed a stage <br>And we are merely players <br>Performers and portrayers <br>Each another’s audience outside the gilded cage
I’m not a golf player. I think golf and fishing are the same, but at the end of the day, you can’t fry up and golf ball and dip it in tartar sauce. So I’m a fisherman.
I went through all the musicians in my life who I admire as bright, intelligent, virtuosic players.
Actually, my ambition at eight or nine years old was to be one of Little Richard’s sax players, and that’s when I got my first saxophone, a Selmer. It was a strange Bakelite material – that creamy plastic with all the gold keys on it. I had to get a job as a butcher’s delivery boy to start paying for it.
When I was 9 years old, I wanted to be the baritone sax player in the Little Richard band.
I spent so much time in my bedroom. It really was my entire world. I had books up there, my music up there, my record player. Going from my world upstairs out onto the street, I had to pass through this no-man’s-land of the living room, you know, and out the front hall.
To be a great band it’s like you have that telepathy. You know when the bass player’s in back of you without even looking. You know when your guitar player’s coming up to you to lean up to you and sing into your microphone. You just know these things. You feel it. You feel the energy of it.
I had sort of exhausted all the avenues playing in Detroit. So again, through the stewardship of my brother, I ended up in California and went to the Musicians Institute in L.A. I wanted to get better as a player.
