I wasn’t a kid when I came out. Soulja Boy was 16. I’m saying that when he came out he was a kid so it was naturally a show for him. It’s not about the music right away. It’s a show for him. Not that he’s not putting enough effort into his music, but how much effort can a 16 year old put into his music because as you mature and get older even the songs he’s doing now has evolved and he’s looking back.
I get paid for what most kids get punished for.

In this state, dig it, you get twenty years for sale of dope to a minor. You only get five to ten for manslaughter. So like, the thing is, if you’re selling to a kid and cops come, shoot the kid real quick!
My critique of democracy begins and ends with this point. Kids must be educated to disrespect authority or else democracy is a farce.
It’s taken me to be an older guy, an old man, to have an old man’s voice. Because I only liked old men’s voices. As a kid, I didn’t like pip-squeaked singers.
Very much like that, and very much a loner, do you know and I didn’t fit really into sport or all kind of group activities as a kid, I couldn’t find a niche. And music was not really part of the kind of village curriculum it would, you know.
But I did go to music really early on, even when I was 4 or 5, I was responding to music probably in ways other kids were not.
I believe Andy was meant to die because he was too good I’m almost happy it ended the way it did because I’ve learned so many lessons from him. It would have been tragic if we got into fights and then divorced [If he had lived], I would be a fat housewife with three kids in Sands Point, Long Island.
Having kids is a full-time job. And I don’t know any woman who isn’t constantly fighting between the exquisite selfishness required to be an artist and this exquisite selflessness that’s required to be a parent.
Guys don’t adapt as well as women do to getting their heart broken for the first time. It’s tragic. I really wanted to be in love, get married, have kids and buy a wood-paneled station wagon for the family. But it didn’t work out, and, boy, it wrecked it!
Yeah, anytime anybody has a kid, you know how you feel when you have a kid, you look at the world differently because your kid’s in the world now. When it’s just you, whatever happens happens but now you pay more attention to political things. You pay more attention to things because your daughter or your son has to deal with these circumstances.
I had that upbringing. Of watching ‘Bonanza,’ watching ‘Hee Haw,’ which both black and white would watch. I rode horses. I did gun spinning as a kid. I do these things.

I always felt sorry for the sidekick as a kid. They never got their due and it left a very bad taste in the mouth – they are defined by a subordinate relationship to someone else. I always felt like a bit of sidekick when I was a kid and it didn’t feel fair.
I had some fears as a kid, but I was also relatively fearless. Maybe that’s a result of living half the time in reality and the other half in fantasy.

Yeah, I finished, it was hard. Those last five miles. It was like giving birth and then being told to run as you’re giving birth. It was so much pain in my hips. I don’t know if women are meant to run, especially after having kids.
I was a kid who loved to play games. Any kind of game, any kind of ball. Give me a baseball, give me a basketball, give me something I can bounce and throw.
I must have been a really tough kid to corral. I got disciplined quite frequently. I guess that would be the best way to say it. The rod, I wore out the rod. You know, Spare the rod and spoil the child? Well, I wore out the rod.
