Your hater is your future fan in a way. Cause when it’s different they don’t really take to it at first, but after you look back on it you get a chance to reflect on it.

Engage your fans and turn your fans into your community. Realize that we all have failures and can turn those failures into successes through tenacity and through being open to changing.

I’m a big fan of fiction film where you have a story and you have to transform that into a visual language, basically working with actors and also transforming that into how you pronounce that in the visual language of the shots, the construction of the shots and the lighting. All of that appealed to me from the beginning of my career at the university. When I graduated from the university, I wanted to deal mainly with that, with the visual aspect of the movie.

To be appreciated by a whole ‘nother generation of fans, all of a sudden discovering you, it’s kind of what I did with the classic bands I love – the ones that influenced me.

People who come up to me are drummers or fans of the band. I don’t get it too much, but I’ll be somewhere and someone will have me take a picture or something.
