The work that the kids saw around them was so odious, so boring, so worthless that they came to regard WORK as the only dirty four-letter word in the English language.
Seems to me we move the furniture, the French come in later and put the doilies on top of it…It’s a simple fact they’ve always been reluctant to surrender to the wishes of their friends and are almost anticipatory in their urge to surrender to wishes of their enemies. And if they want to get their hands dirty now they’re just gonna have to run ’em through their own hair.
I think it just kind of comes naturally to me. I feel like I’ve been coached that way my whole life – to play dirty and to play mean.
Then, there’s the modern mother-in-law. In her mid 40s, she is the compact car of her breed: efficient, trim, attractive and in harmony with her times. She’s pretty stiff competition for the plain young matron who’s overweight and under-financed.
