So many people appreciate what you’ve done, the doors you’ve opened, but some people realise they’re not going to be able to make as much money as they thought possible when you first started.

I love New York for being New York. I love L.A. for being L.A. But when it comes home, I’m a Midwest, South type of dude. I like open roads, I like to drive, and it may not be as fast, but it’s definitely a place where you get to appreciate a lot more. Not saying that you don’t up here, but that’s not what I’m accustomed to.

I’m aware of what you’ve done for me, and I’m not ungrateful. I appreciate that you actually showed yourself to be greater than your prejudices and have given me a chance here. But I don’t want you for my lover, and you’re not my father.

I do feel my fan base, my community understands me and appreciates me very deeply, and that is the wind in my sails to keep doing what I am doing. I know that my work really inspires people and they tell me that all the time, and so that’s wonderful.

I’m going to continue to talk to the people, because I do believe that if they get to know you and what you are as a human being, they can more appreciate what you are as a performer.

On that night I was left with only the truth that nothing of our personality survives after death, that in the end all that was Misha Vainberg would evaporate along with the styles and delusions of his epoch, leaving behind not one flutter of his sad heavy brilliance, not one damp spot around which his successors could congregate to appreciate his life and times.

I think your posing and your onstage presentation is yet another piece of the craft. So anytime you get onstage to show the muscles and show the finished work, that should be looked at with the same kind of respect and appreciation. I’m glad everybody else appreciates it, but I still want to get better.

Like everybody else, I’ve got dark and light, trying to hold onto the civilized part and use it successfully. I’m sure that includes competition, but not in a way that I can recognize. Most of the games I like have more to do with the process of the game or the aesthetics. Racing’s really about the aesthetics for me, not particularly the idea of coming in first – though I certainly appreciate a champion, and I like watching people do something really well.

While I have some regrets that this is my last opportunity to deliver a State of the State address, I appreciate and am humbled by the opportunities this great state has given me.
